Understanding Alooba Templates and Organization Templates

Alooba Templates are crafted by our experts at Alooba for common use cases, such as hiring for Data Analyst or Data Scientist roles. These templates offer a ready-to-use starting point for users who are new to assessment creation. They come pre-configured with various settings, allowing you to make adjustments as needed for your specific requirements. Alooba Templates are available to all users on the Alooba platform.


On the other hand, as you gain experience in creating Alooba assessments, Organization Templates become a valuable asset. They allow you to save frequently used settings and assessment formats required by your organization, streamlining the process of creating future assessments. These templates are created by you to cater to your organization's unique needs. These templates are exclusive to your organization's users, offering a personalized solution for you.


On the template listing page, you will find both Alooba Templates and your Organization Templates. Alooba Templates will have the subheading "Alooba Template," while your Organization's Templates will clearly indicate that it's your organization's template by including your organization name directly under the template title. This clear distinction allows you to easily identify and access the templates you need based on their source. Also note, that your organization's templates will show up before the Alooba templates.

Creating a New Template from Scratch

To create a new template from scratch, follow these straightforward steps:

  1. Login to your Alooba account.
  2. Click on the Alooba product you have access to.
  3. Locate the Create Assessment button and click on it.

    The Create Assessment button is on the right of the main Assessment's page of Alooba Assess and Alooba Junior, and on the Exercises page of Alooba Growth
  4. On the assessment creation page, you will see a list of available templates. These include both the Alooba templates and your organization's templates.

  5. At the bottom of the list, find the Create Your Own Template button, and click on it to initiate the template creation process.

Customizing the Template

Once you begin the template creation process, you can tailor the assessment template to meet your specific requirements. The template creation process is almost identical to creating an assessment. For more detail about each of the sections, you can check the related details of creating an assessment.

Here's a high level breakdown of each section of the template creation form:

  1. Template Information: Define a name for the template, specify the role you are hiring for, and the location of the role.

Creating a Template from an Existing Assessment

To create a template from an existing assessment, you have two options:

  1. Convert to Template: If no one has been invited to the assessment yet, simply click on the Convert to Template option within the action menu of the particular assessment. The assessment will be converted into an organization template, and removed from the assessment list.

  2. Duplicate and Convert: If participants have already been invited to the assessment you will not be able to directly convert it to a template. However, you can first duplicate the assessment to create a new assessment without any participants by selecting Duplicate from within the assessment's action menu. Then, you can convert the new assessment into a template using the Convert to Template option.

Templates for Alooba Assess, Alooba Growth, and Alooba Junior

Currently, all three core Alooba products utilize the same set of templates. If you plan on using templates across multiple products it is recommended to make sure they are clearly labeled within the template title.
